Step 1: Visit the Public Distribution System (PDS) Portal
Each state in India has its own Public Distribution System (PDS) website. To start the de-linking process, open your web browser and visit the PDS website for your state. You can search for your state’s PDS website by typing something like “PDS portal [Your State]”. For example, if you live in Maharashtra, you would search for “PDS portal Maharashtra.”

Step 2: Log in to Your Account or Register
If you have an account on the PDS website, log in using your username and password. If you don’t have an account, you will need to create one. This usually requires your ration card number and a few personal details, like your name and address.
Step 3: Find the “Citizen Corner” Option
Once you are logged in, look for the “Citizen Corner” option as shown in the below screenshot. This section shows various options, read below for the next process.
Step 4: Select “Know Your Ration Card Status”
After putting the cursor on the “Citizen Corner” you will see a long list in the drop-down menu. Select “Know Your Ration Card Status” as shown in the below screenshot.
Step 5: Enter Your Aadhaar and Ration Card Details
A new screen will et open, now enter your 12-digit Aadhaar number in the box shown below and your ration card number. Numbers must be correct to avoid any errors. After entering fill the captcha and select “Get RC Details”.
Step 6: Select “De-link/De-seed Aadhaar Number
After entering the above details you will see all documents linked to your ration card. Select your Aadhaar number de-linking or Aadhaar de-seeding option.
Step 7: Verify with OTP
After selecting the option you will get an OTP on the mobile number linked with your Aadhaar. Check the OTP on your mobile and enter it in the blank box on the website. This confirms that you are the owner of this Aadhaar card.
Step 8: Submit Your Request
Once you enter the OTP, click on the “Submit” button. Your request to de-seed Aadhaar from your ration card will be processed now. You will receive a confirmation message “the request has been submitted successfully”.

After submitting the request, the de-linking process can take a few days. You can check the status of your request on the same website by selecting “Check Request Status” or the steps explained above.
Documents Required For Aadhaar & Ration Card De-linking Process

- Your Aadhaar Number: You must have your updated aadhaar number, this means your name, address, photo, father’s name accurately printed on it.
- Your Ration Card Number: You will also need your valid ration card number that means your ration card should not be the expired one. If it is expired apply and get a new valid ration card before following aadhaar ration card linking process.
- Mobile Number: Your mobile number must be linked to your Aadhaar card. This is important for the verification by getting an OTP on your registered or linked mobile number.
