UIDAI Launches Mega Aadhaar Update Drive 2.0 in Jammu and Kashmir Schools
The Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) has started the Mega Aadhaar Mandatory Biometric Update (MBU) Drive 2.0 across Jammu and Kashmir. The initiative is aimed at helping school students complete their Aadhaar biometric updates without having to travel far from their schools.
The campaign is being conducted jointly by UIDAI, the Information Technology Department of Jammu and Kashmir and Project Samagra Shiksha under the School Education Department.
Aadhaar Update Camps to Be Held in Schools
The second phase of the Aadhaar biometric update campaign has started in schools located in the winter zones of Jammu and Kashmir. Schools situated in summer zones are scheduled to begin the drive from April 1, 2026.
Under this initiative, Aadhaar update facilities will be made available at the school level. UIDAI plans to cover around 2,382 identified schools and provide biometric update services to more than 2 lakh students.
The objective is to make the mandatory Aadhaar update process easier and more accessible for children.

Previous Drive Updated Biometrics of 1.5 Lakh Students
The latest campaign follows an earlier mandatory biometric update drive conducted in Jammu and Kashmir between September and December 2025.
During that campaign, approximately 1.5 lakh students completed their biometric updates.
However, a large number of children still require mandatory biometric updating. According to the information released for the new campaign, around 3.5 lakh children remain due for the update.
This has led authorities to continue the programme on a mission-mode basis.

UDISE+ Integration Helps Identify Students
UIDAI had earlier launched the mission-mode Aadhaar biometric update programme for schoolchildren in September 2025.
One of the important developments behind the campaign was the technological integration of Aadhaar-related information with the Unified District Information System for Education Plus (UDISE+) application of the Department of School Education and Literacy.
This integration allows schools to get better visibility of students whose biometric updates are due.
It also helps authorities identify eligible students and organise Aadhaar update camps directly on school premises.
Parents Should Coordinate With Schools
UIDAI and the Jammu and Kashmir Information Technology Department have advised parents and guardians to remain in contact with their children’s schools.
Schools are expected to inform parents about the dates and arrangements for Aadhaar update camps.
Parents should therefore check with their respective school authorities to find out when the Aadhaar biometric update facility will be available.
