The Telangana High Court has granted bail to a teenage student accused in a case involving the death of her newborn child at a hostel in Hyderabad. According to the prosecution’s case, the student allegedly gave birth inside the hostel bathroom and later threw the newborn from a window.
The incident led to a police investigation and registration of a criminal case under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita. While considering the bail plea, the High Court granted relief to the accused, allowing her to remain out of custody subject to the conditions imposed by the court. The bail order does not decide the student’s guilt or innocence, and the allegations will be examined through the ongoing legal proceedings.
Telangana High Court Grants Bail to Student Accused of Throwing Newborn from Hostel Window
The Telangana High Court has granted bail to a young student who was accused of throwing her newborn baby from a hostel window after allegedly giving birth inside a washroom at a government residential college in Hyderabad.
The case relates to an incident reported at a residential educational institution in Golconda, where the student was pursuing her Intermediate studies and staying in the hostel.
Baby Found Dead After Falling From Hostel Building
According to the police case, the incident took place in the early hours of June 23, 2026. The student allegedly experienced labour pains and went to the hostel washroom at around 4:30 am.
Police said she delivered a baby boy inside the washroom and subsequently returned to her room with the newborn. The infant was allegedly thrown from a window of the hostel room and fell onto a lower structure adjoining the building.
The college principal later noticed the newborn lying motionless and alerted the authorities. CCTV footage from the hostel was examined during the initial inquiry, following which the student was questioned about the incident.
Police alleged that the baby suffered a fatal head injury in the fall and died.

Police Registered Case Under BNS
Following the incident, Golconda police registered a criminal case under Section 103(1) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, relating to murder, along with Section 238 concerning causing disappearance of evidence or giving false information to screen an offender.
The student was also taken for medical examination and treatment following the incident.
Reports said investigators were examining the circumstances surrounding the pregnancy and the events leading up to the delivery. Police also reportedly found that the student had been in a relationship with a relative.
High Court Grants Bail
The Telangana High Court has now granted bail to the accused student in connection with the case. The bail order provides relief to the accused while the criminal investigation and legal proceedings continue.
Granting bail does not amount to a finding that the accused is innocent. The allegations made by the prosecution will have to be examined during the judicial process, and the final outcome of the criminal case will depend on the evidence and proceedings before the competent court.
The case has drawn attention because of the circumstances in which the pregnancy and delivery allegedly remained undisclosed until the incident occurred.

Investigation Still Continues
The police investigation is expected to examine the sequence of events inside the hostel, the circumstances surrounding the delivery and the allegations concerning the newborn’s death.
The authorities are also expected to rely on CCTV footage, medical evidence and statements recorded during the investigation to establish what happened.
The High Court’s decision to grant bail means the accused will remain out of custody subject to the conditions imposed by the court. The underlying criminal case, however, remains pending and the allegations have not been finally adjudicated.
